This session will include a review of statistical data features in Euromonitor Passport, Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), IHS Connect, PRS CountryData.com, World Development Indicators as well as other resources available from Ginn Library’s website. Types of data reviewed for countries and worldwide include: company/brand market share, risk indicators, forecasts, digital and traditional economic indicators, sector and demographic statistics, etc.
“What is the best way to collect and retain information and build knowledge during one’s academic career and life?” This is a quintessential question and challenge for anyone whose work relies on creating, organizing, and using vast amounts of information (such as reading notes, research ideas, and drafts for presentations, papers, and capstones). R is a free, open-source statistical programming language used to manipulate, analyze, and visualize data. The flexibility of R allows large amounts of data to be processed and represented in ways that spreadsheet programs cannot. This introductory, hands-on workshop provides a brief overview of how R works and what it is capable of.
No prior experience with R or programming languages is required but ensure you download and install R and RStudio before the start of the workshop: https://posit.co/download/rstudio-desktop/
This online session will review how to use Zotero, the free citation tool for easily capturing book, article, webpage citations and more. Zotero can help you organize, tag, and add notes to citations/resources as you search; then integrates with Word to facilitate the creation of footnotes and bibliographies in your selected style.
R is a free, open-source statistical programming language used to manipulate, analyze, and visualize data. In this hands-on workshop, users will be introduced to R packages used for data visualization. This session includes data visualization exercises utilizing a sample data set.
