This session will review the advanced search commands and analysis features available in Dow Jones Factiva. Data gathered can be used to examine global political, economic and business content from over 14,000 newspapers, magazines and other major journals like Foreign Affairs available in this database.

R is a free, open-source statistical programming language used to manipulate, analyze, and visualize data. In this hands-on workshop, users will be introduced to R packages used for data visualization. This session includes data visualization exercises utilizing a sample data set.

Prior experience with R or completion of Ginn Library’s Introduction to R workshop is recommended but not required. Ensure you download and install R and RStudio before the start of the workshop: https://posit.co/download/rstudio-desktop/.

In this seminar, Shari Rodriguez, PhD will discuss the experiences and attitudes of people in two rural areas in the Asian country of Myanmar where communities were exposed to human-elephant conflict (HEC).
