The Introduction to Stata workshop is designed to get you familiar with Stata. During these sessions, we will use datasets with global economic and development indicators. This workshop series is suitable for those who have not worked with Stata before or those seeking a refresher session. It is designed to progressively build knowledge, so it is essential to attend all sessions. By the end of the workshop series, you will be able to perform intermediate data analysis tasks.
This session will review how to use the Pitchbook database for locating information on private and public companies, new industry sectors, entrepreneurial finance as well as firms and deals in the impact investment space. It will also highlight other sources available at Tufts for PE/VC finance information.

This session will include a review of statistical data features in Euromonitor Passport, Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), IHS Connect, PRS CountryData.com, World Development Indicators as well as other resources available from Ginn Library’s website. Types of data reviewed for countries and worldwide include: socio-economic and political risk indicators, forecasts, digital and traditional socio-economic indicators, sector and demographic statistics, company/brand market share, etc.
Learn how to use online resources to create customized lists of organizations in the private and public sector by region and specialization. Also how to download these lists to Excel for further analysis.

Data gathered can be used to examine global political, economic and business content from over 14,000 newspapers, magazines and other major journals like Foreign Affairs available in this database.
