Celebrating Native American Heritage Month with Staff Recommendations

As we celebrate Native American Heritage Month, we would like to acknowledge that as a space for teaching, learning, research and study, Ginn Library is located on colonized Wôpanâak (Wampanoag), Pawtucket and Massachusett Tribe traditional territory. We pay respect to the ancestral bloodline of these tribes and their descendants who still inhabit historical tribe territories to this day.

National Native American Heritage Month celebrates the culture and ancestry of Indigenous peoples and honors their contributions and traditions to American society. Ginn staff have curated a list of books, films and other media that highlight the traditions, ancestry, struggles and aspirations, as well as contributions by Native Americans. Browse some titles below from the Tufts Libraries catalog!

Also, NPR and PBS put together their own collections for National Native American Heritage Month that highlights Indigenous stories and culture across a variety of mediums. Visit The Library of Congress website to learn more about the creation and evolution of National Native American Heritage Month.
