Library Instruction

Librarians are available to teach research sessions customized for your students and course(s), during or outside of class hours. Schedule an appointment with a librarian and let us know when you'd like us to speak with your students.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Ginn staff are committed to working with Fletcher faculty to support the diversification of syllabi and research. Incorporating diverse perspectives and non-Western concepts and traditions in course materials and class discussions can broaden your students' understanding of your course subject. Visit the Diversifying Course Materials Research Guide for a list of resources to get you started, or Ask a Librarian for more information.

You can request that the library order books for your course. See the Course Readings page for more information.

Teaching with Technology

Tufts Educational Technology Services (ETS) supports faculty with using technology resources in and outside of classes. ETS offers assistance with course design and incorporating technology tools. See their Keeping Teaching website for online instruction tips and how-tos. ETS also offers tech support for these tools:

  • Canvas provides a space for faculty to share readings, post assignments, and engage students.
  • Zoom is used for meetings, remote and hybrid classes, virtual office hours and virtual events.
    • For remote and hybrid classes, set up your Zoom links via Canvas.
    • Always sign into Zoom with your Tufts credentials before joining a meeting or event.
    • Tufts IT Guide for Zoom
  • Qualtrics is a web-based tool for creating and conducting online surveys, similar to SurveyMonkey or Google Forms.
  • Lecture capture tools (e.g. Kaltura and Echo 360) let you record your classes and upload them to Canvas.
  • WordPress allows you to create simple websites—ideal for blogs, portfolios, and projects. WordPress is similar to Drupal, Google Sites, Medium, or Squarespace.

The Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CELT) is a good resource for faculty creating new course content, or enhancing existing content. In addition to hosting workshops, affinity groups, and consultations, CELT has helpful resources on how to create an inclusive learning environment.

myFletcher

myFletcher serves as Fletcher’s intranet: a hub of information for Fletcher students, faculty and staff, including the school-wide calendar of events, as well as office hours scheduling for faculty, staff, and teaching assistants.
