Join Professor Alex de Waal as he discusses his new book The Sudans : Africa's search for peace, democracy, and two viable states.
The Sudans tells the story of the African Union's efforts to make peace in the Sudans during the years 2009 to 2013. It details the events leading to the independence of South Sudan, to solve the war in Darfur and make peace between Sudan and South Sudan. It’s a case study in Africa’s most ambitious exercise in conflict mediation. It also foretells the calamities that came to engulf the two countries.
